What is it?
The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an internationally recognised introspective self-report questionnaire with the purpose of indicating differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world around them and make decisions.
The MBTI emphasizes the value of naturally occurring differences. The platform is used to make people more effective as individuals and in teams and is used by many organizations, large and small throughout the world.
The underlying assumption of the MBTI is that we all have specific preferences in the way we construe our experiences, and these preferences underlie our interests, needs, values, and motivation.
Who is it for?
The MBTI model is ideal for organsations seeking their individuals to understand the behavoirs, motivations and personality types of themselves and those around them. This evolves into a greater understanding of each other including insights such as how any why people act and react in different ways to different situations. This gives teams a far greater appreciation of the skill and personality styles of their peers. It’s a very powerful tool at all levels including management and leadership. MBTI is the ideal platform for:
- Coaching
- Communication and influencing
- Conflict management
- Decision-making
- Leadership development
- Change management
- Team development
The 16 MBTI Personality Types
The first stage of all our workshops is for individuals to complete a confidential online questionnaire. The MBTI questionnaire sorts people into 16 different personality types.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) Step I is based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological type. It indicates your personality preferences in four dimensions:
- Where you focus your attention – Extroversion (E) or Introversion (I)
- The way you take in information – Sensing (S) or Intuition (N)
- How you make decisions – Thinking (T) or Feeling (F)
- How you deal with the world – Judging (J) or Perceiving (P)
The four letters that make up your personality type can help you to understand yourself and your interactions with others.
