Improved Creativity – Nearly all the team building activities that we offer require forms of creativity from the teams. Especially by the end of the year, employees may lack inspiration and initiative, therefore encouraging this with a team building exercise over the festive season could have a remarkable impact on their performance within their professional role.

Team Bonding – Giving your team the opportunity to socialise in a relaxed environment can strengthen existing relationships and help to form new ones. Although employees may think that they know each other well, being able to talk about non-work-related topics will allow them to get to know each other on a personal level.

Increased Communication – Removing barriers between employees, strengthening relationships, and creating shared memories, opens the opportunity for communication around the workplace to improve- only having positive effects on productivity.

#2 Masterpiece

Introducing the Masterpiece Challenge, a team building activity that ignites creativity and fosters collaboration by painting the bigger picture.

Your group will be divided into teams of 6 to 8 individuals, each assigned to a set of canvasses. The teams not only engage in the act of painting but also embark on a series of mini challenges to earn the supplies. These tasks encompass a wide array of activities, including logical quizzes, puzzles, mental challenges, visual tasks, and even elements of engineering. By successfully completing these challenges, teams acquire their crucial blueprints, and paints to aid them in their quest to realise their masterpiece.

The twist, however, lies in the fact that each team is responsible for constructing their own section of the track. Constant communication is key as they must ensure seamless integration between their sections, fostering a sense of unity. Together, these teams work harmoniously to create a colossal masterpiece that unites at the grand finale.

The teams with the lowest combined scores will be crowned the victors, showcasing their prowess on the mini-golf course.

As the event draws to a close and the winning teams are celebrated, the GOTO Events team will diligently dismantle and pack up the course. But the story doesn’t end there—these items will be donated to the designated charity or a deserving family in need. Through this act of kindness, the event not only fosters team spirit but also leaves a lasting impact on those in need.

#5 Charity Bike Build

If you’re seeking an activity or experience that not only promotes team unity and purpose but also contributes to a meaningful cause, then look no further than our charity team building experiences. We collaborate with numerous charities worldwide, ensuring that each experience is deeply intertwined with their mission.

Our most popular charity event revolves around teams constructing bicycles from scratch, but it encompasses much more than that! Before diving into the building process, teams must engage in a series of engaging games, tasks, and challenges to bike parts. Many of these activities are directly linked to the skills necessary for bike assembly and maintenance.

Teams are encouraged to build each bike with their unique touch, leveraging a variety of creative resources to fuel their imagination and personalise their creations.

Once completed, all the bikes are presented, allowing teams to admire and appreciate each other’s efforts. After the event every bike is generously donated to one of our nominated charities or a charity of your choosing, ensuring that these vehicles bring joy and support to those in need.

Effective communication and collaboration are the core of any successful organisation. Indoor team events provide an ideal opportunity for employees to interact with one another outside of their day-to-day regular work commitments. By taking part in activities such as problem-solving challenges, trust building exercises or simply team-based games, individuals amongst a team can develop better communication skills, learn to listen actively and ultimately build trust amongst team members.  These improved interpersonal relationships foster a more cohesive and collaborative work environment, leading to enhanced productivity and efficiency.

#2 Creativity and Innovation

Team building exercises often involve creative problem-solving task and often brainstorming sessions. By encouraging teams to think outside of the box and work together to find innovative ideas and solutions, it allows the teams to develop their creativity skills.

It is often overlooked that when a person feels comfortable expressing their views and encouraged to collaborate, they become more comfortable expressing their ideas and confident in sharing perspectives.

#3 Boosting Morale and Motivation

High employee morale and motivation are crucial for a positive work environment and improved performance. Indoor team building activities provide employees a break from their usual daily work activities, allowing departments to bond, form connections and develop a sense of camaraderie.

As a result, and one that is often highly noted by our teams is that individuals feel more valued, appreciated and feel like they are more than just a number. In turn, this produces higher motivation levels, and increased productivity.

#4 Productivity and Efficiency Improvements

Effective team building activities enhance communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, leading to improved productivity and efficiency in the workplace. When team members understand each other’s strengths, weaknesses, and working styles, they can streamline processes, leverage individual talents, and work more cohesively towards common goals.

#5 Employee Relationships

Team building activities help foster strong relationships among team members. When employees feel comfortable working with one another, they are more likely to share knowledge, collaborate, and support each other. These positive relationships contribute to a harmonious work environment and improved team dynamics.

#6 Employee Engagement

Engaged employees are more likely to go the extra mile and contribute their best efforts towards achieving organisational objectives and goals. Team building activities provide a platform for employees to connect with their work and the company’s mission, fostering a sense of belonging and commitment. Engaged employees are more productive, have higher job satisfaction, and are less likely to seek employment elsewhere.

As strong believers of getting out of the office, we also understand that this is not always possible! Whether it be uncontrollable external factors, or travel limitations your global team might be facing, you can still get together as a full team even if you’re not physically together.

Over the last few years, we have found that team building activities are the perfect way to boost morale, ease new starters into a team, provide a much-needed break from the day-to-day work life, and even more. Even if you and your team are unable to come together in person, there are a wide range of virtual events that are still able to provide that social interaction and team bonding that can benefit everyone when they return to the workplace.

Gone are the days of joining onto a group call with your entire team that begins with glossed over and tired eyes. With different themes, challenges, and games, our virtual events are guaranteed to lift the mood and get everyone interacting with one another for some team building, no matter the distance.

You’ve probably seen the boom of virtual events across the web over the last few years. The ability to tweak and re-design these events promotes a range of different benefits, and their popularity has grown exponentially. Not only are you able to join in through the comfort of your own home or from the office, but there are also various virtual events that incorporate your external environment. Alternatively, if you don’t have the supplies needed and readily available, our dedicated projects and operations team will be able to support you from start to finish.

Top 4 Benefits of Virtual Team Building Events

Virtual Team Building Events

#1 Engage With Remote Workers

The recent changes in the working environment have meant that many teams either work fully remote or with a form of hybrid working. We have found that corporate virtual team building events are a great way to engage with remote workers, no matter where in the world they are. Bringing your team together is a great way to keep up to date on ongoing projects that you probably are not involved in, but with the added benefit of a fun, exciting event with challenges to release your competitive side.

#2 Improve Important Transferable Skills

The lack of body language and other physical social cues over virtual meetings has indicated the importance of better communication online. The use of virtual events can provide you and your team with the transferable skills needed to work better together and collaborate efficiently from a distance. Whether that be co-working on a project, managing time effectively, and finding ways to communicate a point across, each of these are integrated within our virtual events to give you a fresh view on improving these skills with games and challenges.

#3 Zoom Fatigue Reset

Connectivity is amazing, but it can be draining and become mundane. We have found that due to how frequently Zoom and other online platforms are used, many employees are starting to feel disconnected and lost behind a screen. Introducing a virtual event and different activities that break the Zoom routine of client calls, or remote meetings, can help to bring something exciting to look forward to for everyone on your team. Give your Zoom experience a reset with something out of the ordinary.

#4 Accessibility

Perhaps you have members on your team that have accessibility needs, or members on the team that would struggle to meet even in a centralised location. The benefit of virtual events is that it is easily accessible by all. All you need is a device, an internet connection, and our team will be available to support you from start to finish. If you are unable to leave your house to gather items to support with the virtual event, fear not! Our projects and operations team can get these delivered to you ahead of the day.

Book Your Next Christmas Party

After working hard for the last year, it’s a great time of the year to show your appreciation for the hard work your staff has done throughout the year. Not only that but it’s a perfect time to have some light-hearted fun to end the year! That’s why we’ve put together a list of fun, festive Christmas work games that you can host in your office!

Pass the Present

A childhood classic, that is perfect for lightening the mood in the office! It can be as competitive as you like. All you need is one lucky person to be in charge of wrapping the final present, adding some chocolate treats along the way (without eating them) and playing the best festive songs.

What’s in the Stocking?

Fill a stocking with 10 random Christmas related items such as candy canes, tinsel, Christmas baubles. Tie it together at the top so that no one else can see inside it (we don’t like cheaters!). It’s now time to hand the stocking around. Each person has to use their sense of touch to list out what’s in the stocking! The person with the highest number of correct guesses wins!

Festive Bingo

Bingo is always a popular, but add a little festive sparkle and you’re bound to have a crowd pleaser! Whether you make the bingo cards yourself, of purchase them online (Etsy are great for these) this will work well in the office or virtually with teams around the world!

Don’t want to host yourselves? Here at GOTO Events we can host virtually a Musical Bingo! Think Christmas Classics, Bingo Cards, and some awful singing! Contact us today to find out more.

Gingerbread House Making

This is a simple activity but can also be a very competitive one! This will definitely bring out the inner creatives of the group. All you need to do is find some gingerbread house kits, then cover with icing and sweets.

Want to leave it to the professionals? We can provide all the pre-made dough, house templates, sweet treats, chocolate, and icing, ready for you to bake, build and decorate your showstopper gingerbread houses! Get in touch with us to set up you Gingerbread House workshop.

Christmas Scavenger Hunt

A scavenger hunt is a popular favourite anytime of the year, so why not host one this Christmas. It’s a fun game, but there’s nothing like a little healthy competition right? Whether it’s an indoor or outdoor hunt you’re planning, give your teams a list of random items, first team to find all of them wins!

Fancy Dress Competition

We’re thinking bold, trashy jumpers, inflatable turkey outfits, and the boss dressed as the Grinch! Everyone loves a fancy dress day, so adding a festive twist to it will get everyone in the festive spirit. Why not take part in the Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 8th December and raise money for Save the Children.

Guess the Emoji

An easy and quick game that you are suitable as a Christmas filler. There are plenty of different games sheets online, or you can simply make your own. Maybe you could set a timer – 3 minutes to complete the sheet. These could be Christmas Carols, Films or just festive words. The winner is the person with the most correct answers at the end of the 3 minutes.

As you’ve seen, there are Christmas office games that you can host in your office. If you’re looking to book a Christmas Team Building event this year, then look no further. We have a full range of indoor, evening, and virtual events available, check them out here.

Planning Your Christmas Party in Advance

It might be the last thing on your mind in the Summer to book your  work Christmas party, but there is no time like the present (pardon the pun!). We’ve spoken to venues up and down the country and they’ve let us in on a few top tips with organising your next Christmas party.

Did you know that 42% of clients already have their Christmas party budget approved, but still haven’t booked their date for their event!

With a majority of 2021 Christmas party booking being postponed due to the pandemic last year, dates for 2022 have started to cause availability issues to accommodate for the postponements. Unfortunately this will mean there will be slight disappointment for some companies and you may not get your preferred date.

As a result of the above, November could now be the way forward to hosting your festivities. Not only will there be a higher chance of availability in November, but venues may come at a lower cost to hire as it may be out of peak times.

What To Look for in a Venue for Your Christmas Party?

1. Location

The location you choose needs to be convenient for all parties. Choosing a venue that is close to public transport, or an airport (if guests are flying in), and offers overnight accommodation onsite or nearby, especially if drinks are involved) is vital.

2. Price

This is always a big factor as the venue must comfortably meet the budget requirements. It’s very typical for all costs to not be considered, often leading to an over spend.

3. Extras & Additions

Venue rentals are not the only expense that you need consider, it’s important to research the venue’s own policies beforehand. Some venues may include tables, and chairs in the venue cost, but some may also charge.
